It seems a lot of people have been making a huge deal about the Miguel Cabrera contract. He received a contract north of $290 million dollars. It is a huge deal in terms of salary per year; but compared to other pro athletes they do work much more. Almost 4 months of work rarely a day off.
Still hard to justify such a huge salary for a person who is borderline obese at best. The supply and demand of baseball in particular the ludicrous TV contracts no make it possible to have these huge mega-deals. Is it for the best? Only time will tell.
Me personally, I like the Tampa Bay Rays approach. Marginal payroll with an excellent farm and coaching system that develops a solid team year in and out.
What do you guys think? Is baseball paying these athletes too much and leaving no room for the average fan? Please comment / share / subscribe / like g+.
